This record group consists of records relating to the case of Major General Ronald McDonald (1958-1966) for malfesance and maladministration in office. The record group includes opinions; correspondence; charges and reports issued by the Governor, Attorney General, Auditor General, and the Adjutant General; administrative documents and verbatim transcripts pertaining to the removal of McDonald from office of Adjutant General; documents relating his appeal; and audiotapes of the legislative committee session that was convened to investigate the allegations against McDonald, including McDonald's verbatim testimony.

Major General Ronald D. McDonald was appointed Adjutant General by Governor G. Mennen Williams on May 1, 1959. In 1964, Major General Cecil L. Simmons, president of the State Military Board, requested Billie Farnum (the state auditor general) to examine the financial records and transactions of the Department of Military Affairs.
